Akai fire ableton5/10/2023 but if levels were low the samples were noisy, and sounded 12 bitt. i used to fly in mono from 2 inch via a channel FX send, coming from 456, and if you kept the levels hot the sonics were ok. especially if you record samples at low level. The older S900s and S950s sound grainy and noisy. Regarding the sound quality, an S1100 is modern Hi Fi sound. personally having used old samplers for god knows how many years, i find the interfaces, button pushing menus, no or little visuals, all detracting negatively for the making music process.Ī modern DAW and a big screen is golden to me. The S1000 on the other hand I've heard has this punchy midrangey quality that is great for drums.Īnyone?ok. Which makes me wonder about the "improved" converters on the S1100-even though it'd be cool to have the FX I wonder if the "pristine" S1100 converters would offer something different from the ones in my interface. I also like the unique character that the old converters impart on the sounds. After checking emails and stuff all day I like to put my laptop in a corner and fire up my turntable and/or VCR and just mine for cool samples with a hardware sampler. The main reason I am using hardware is because it is more fun for me to be able to do at least some of my creative process without a computer.
